Fluorocarbon rubber (FPM/FKM)

Fluorocarbon rubber (FPM/FKM)

Fluorocarbon rubber (FPM) also known under the name of Viton®.
This material is characterized by very high heat, weathering, aging and ozone resistance.
Furthermore Fluorocarbon has a very good chemical resistance and low gas permeability. Fluorocarbon rubber is sensitive to exposure of hot water, steam and amines.

Silicone rubber (VMQ)

Silicone rubber (VMQ)

Silicone rubber (VMQ) is from stock available in 55 Shore colour red and 60 Shore transparent.
Vulcatec only uses silicone with medical grade conform with FDA.
This material is characterized by a very high heat, weathering, aging and ozone resistance. In addition, silicone has good electrical insulation properties.
However silicone has poor resistance to fuel.
Also there is a sensitivity to hot water and steam.

Ethylen-Propylen-Diene rubber (EPDM)

Ethylen-Propylen-Diene rubber (EPDM)

Ethylen-Propylen-Diene rubber (EPDM) is quantitatively the commonly used in the automotive industry. This is also thanks to the very good resistance to weathering, ozone, aging, chemicals, hot water, steam and polar solvents (eg. Acetone, methanol).
In addition our EPDM round cord has FDA approval and corresponds to the KTW Category C.
